It all started when Jana invited us to check out her new barbecue. Apart from the wonderful weather and a big beautiful terrace, we just couldn’t get over the idea that firing up the grill was the perfect reason to make some juicy burgers. Without any further discussion, except for the fact that we could hardly wait for the weekend to start, the dinner was scheduled in two days, as an after work get-together. Oh, and did we mention that Jana owns a fully equipped bakery?
Knowing that all the guests would be too hungry to wait for the burgers, we prepared some raw vegetables and dipping sauces to keep everybody amused during the preparations.
Keeping in mind that the burger is а ‘warm-weather backyard-gathering’ culinary icon, we needed a recipe that truly honors that status! This was the true moment we put our cooking creativity to a test. Not only did we get to choose the base — a fresh cut of veal, enriched with spices and herbs, but we also got to make our very own perfect fluffy buns, as well as the toppings — tomatoes, gherkins, blue cheese, arugula and ginger-spiced mayonnaise. A burger can be exquisitely fresh and undeniably appetizing when given just a little bit more attention than usual. So the next time you think that this kind of fast food classifies as junk food, think again!
Without any intention to brag, the dessert was to die for. High quality dark chocolate brownies, intensified with hazelnuts and dried cranberries, served with a side of homemade fruit yoghurt. In the words our friend Kristina: “After trying this, all of the evil in the world stops existing.”
So dear friends, the next time you gather up, prepare your most desired burger combination and we promise you one thing – it will turn any frown upside down
